As a member of the Board, the Director is informed on organizational matters and participates in the Board’s deliberations and decision making in matters of policy, finance, business and advocacy. We are looking for skills and expertise in the following:

The Board is a volunteer Board and we are seeking individuals who will help promote economic development and growth of the community for the benefit of Binche Whut’enne. The selected candidate will allocate sufficient time to the role of Director.

Summer Job –Research Assistant

Summer Job –Research Assistant

The John Prince Research Forest has a summer position for a research assistant.  The duties of this positon includes data entry (Excel) and video analysis of wildlife data, and collection and preparation of botanical specimens.

The John Prince Research Forest is a research forest located in north-central B.C., jointly owned and operated by Tl’azt’en Nation and UNBC.  It encompasses almost 17,000 ha of forestland which includes a research and education station located on Tezzeron Lake, 45km north of the village of Fort St. James.

This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs program and successful applicants must meet the following eligibility qualifications:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Term of appointment:       May 28, 2018 – August 17, 2018


  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Computer skills (including Excel)
  • Physically fit
  • Be prepared to work in the field
  • Be prepared to live at our research center for periods of time

Desirable assets:

  • Be enrolled in programs associated with natural resource studies: forestry, fish & wildlife, environmental studies, geography, biology, etc.

  • Knowledge of wildlife and plant species in central BC

Job Opportunity – Bus Drivers

Binche Keyoh will be launching Community Bus Service servicing the region. We are seeking drivers with Class 1, Class 2 or Class 4 Drivers license.

Job Type: Full Time, Casual

Job Description:
– Transport customers in accordance with Company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules
– Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading and unloading.
– Courteously and professionally interact with customers
– Collecting fare
– Perform pre and post trip inspections
– Cleaning vehicles


-Must hold a valid driver’s license, Class 4, Class 2 or Class 1, a with a demonstrated record indicating safe and responsible vehicle operation
-Significant level of skills dealing effectively with the passengers
-Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays

Additional Information:

Drivers License Training may be provided for selected applicants.

Youth and Recreation Coordinator

Binche Keyoh is looking for an energetic, outgoing, Youth and Recreation Coordinator, who will work for the community membership and together with Binche’s Leadership, Band Coordinator and Binche Keyoh Bu Society. The person will be a self-starter, motivated, responsible, and bondable, have a positive demeanor with a team player & professional attitude and be able to keep information confidential and is willing to learn and train to further skills. The main focus will be the development, organizing, and implementation of community and or youth recreation services.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • The goal of this position is to engage the community in social and physical activities to promote and develop active and healthy lifestyles and perspectives.
  • Plan and implement training opportunities, such as workshops, exercise programs, travel and expedition trips, cultural and language activities, youth programs and services, and other activities as determined by the community
  • Must be a team player who is interested in supporting the development and success of Binche Keyoh members.
  • Set annual goals and implements work plans
  • Supervise and take a lead role in activities for youth and the community
  • Recruits, trains and oversees any and all volunteers for all functions
  • Responsible for the set up and clean up of all recreation activities
  • When appropriate, accesses and secures additional funding for youth and recreation programs and services
  • Participates in the departmental budget planning as required
  • Work with the Administration Staff to organize scheduling of the gymnasium during weekdays, weekends, and holidays


Needed Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership, supervisor & organizing skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Data Base, Publisher, Email, Internet)
  • Knowledge of how to form and keep a financial budget
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend work as needed
  • Work independently as well as within a team setting
  • Strong and good public relations


  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years related experience, specifically in community and or youth engagement.
  • Computers, or office management is an asset
  • Proposal writing would be considered a valuable asset
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) Class 1 or 2 would be a valuable asset
  • Occupational First Aid certificate (Level 1 minimum)

Binche Keyoh is looking for an energetic hardworking custodian that will work together with Binche’s Leadership, Coordinator and Binche Keyoh Bu Society. The person will be a self-starter, motivated, responsible, and bondable, have a positive demeanor with a team player & professional attitude and be able to keep information confidential and is willing to learn and train to further skills.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all trash cans and waste containers are emptied daily
  • Clean and sanitize all washroom toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, wastebaskets, urinals, and all other fixtures
  • Unclog sinks, toilets, and urinals with appropriate cleaners and tools such as plungers
  • Ensure that all washrooms are equipped with handsoaps, bathroom tissue, and papertowels
  • Spot wash walls everyday
  • Sweep, mop and scrub hallways and floors
  • Check cleaning supplies, and inform the Administrative Assistant in the need to reorder supplies
  • Clean coffeepots, collect cups, wash dishes and clean microwave oven.
  • Wipe and sanitize the kitchen range and counters daily
  • Pickup and remove empty boxes, bags, packing materials, and other trash from the building and place in the disposal area
  • Report any and all repairs to the Building Manager
  • Weekly wipe mats, wash walls, wipe ledges, wash shelves and clean computers
  • Clean, wash, dust and polish, as appropriate all cabinets, file cabinets, desks, shutters, shelves, cupboards, blinds, windows, trim, lights, light switches and tables
  • On holidays, strip down floors and wax, wash rugs, walls, ledges, cupboards, shelves and bathroom walls
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and tools in a neat, tidy and clean manner and ensure they are properly stored in a appropriate place
  • Provide minor repairs and maintenance to the facility, such as replacing burnt out lights, replacing broken light switches/plugin covers
  • Carry out incidental duties as required and or as requested by the immediate supervisor
  • Must follow and adhere to the Binche Keyoh Bu Society Policy and Procedures Manual


Education & Training


  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • WHMIS and OFA Level 1 (minimum)
  • Building Service Worker Level I (minimum) would be considered an asset


  • Previous experience in Custodial work
  • Basic cleaning chemistry
  • Knowledge of workplace safety
  • Good working habits
  • Ability to follow written and verbal requests
  • Knowledge of Binche culture and heritage
  • Follow Employee Code of Ethics
